Wine and a Quarantine Getaway in Seabrook, Washington

Wine and a Quarantine Getaway in Seabrook, Washington

Living in the Pacific Northwest, there is no short of beautiful scenery all around us. Including beach towns that are only a few hours drive from Seattle. One of those regions is Seabrook, WA. I had never been to Seabrook prior to this visit, but it is a planned community with large houses that can fit a family, a coffee shop, restaurants, wine bar, the beach and it’s a short drive to Ocean Shores for even more to do. If you’re looking for a good getaway that’s within driving distance, here is SOME of the things Seabrook has to offer.

Stop 1: Westport Winery

Absolutely worth the detour

We were suggested by our Airbnb hosts to make a detour on our way to Seabrook in order to visit Westport Winery. I’ve lived in Washington my whole life and I had no idea there was a winery in this area. There is so much more to this property, including a restaurant, Mermaid Museum and Distillery! The tasting fee was only $5 to try 6 wines, and the tasting fee is waived with a bottle purchase. Also nearly EVERY wine was around or less than $30!

Between my mother and I, we took home 4 wines (see their whole list of available wines here):

  • Tsunami, Super Tuscan - $32

  • Jetty Cat, Cab Sauv/Syrah/Petite Sirah - $31

  • Going Coastal, Sparkling Gewürztraminer - $30

  • Fleur de Lis, Pinot Gris - $28

Stop 2: Arriving in Seabrook

And staying at the adorable Wade N’ Sea cottage

There are a lot of rental properties available in Seabrook, most of which have unique names. We stayed at the cottage named “Wade N’ Sea” which is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home that sleeps 8. This house has everything you could need in a rental property, including WiFi for getting work done (so perfect if you want a working holiday trip or distanced learnings for school!), as well as a fully stocked video collection that will have your family enjoying all the movie nights. You can check out their availability on their site here.

There is also an outdoor fire pit, and outdoor dining area. But my favorite spot of the entire place was to sit on the front porch for my morning coffee, and then enjoy the long summer evening sunsets with a glass of wine. I enjoyed two wines from Virtue Cellars (their Purity Cabernet Franc Blanc and Temperance Cabernet Franc) that are a local winery based just north of Seattle.

Stop 3: Exploring the Dining Options

First stop was Stowaway Wine Bar!

Any town that makes sure to include a wine bar is automatically top of my list. First place we walked to after getting settled was The Stowaway Wine Bar! This wine bar is open till 8 PM, has outdoor seating and the menu has some fun flare to it! For $20 you can have the Premium Pour of Luxury of the day, which so happened to be a 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon when I visited. Have you ever seen something like that listed on a wine bar menu?? Everything was masks on, except while at your table enjoying wine. As it should be! Keeping safe while exploring is #1 priority so just a little PSA to wear your masks ❤️⠀

Stop 4: Adventures & Enjoying Outdoor Activities

Golfing & the beach!

There are so many great ways to get outdoors and enjoy everything that the coast has to offer. About 25 minutes south of Seabrook is Ocean Shores Golf Course. My mom and I drove down for an early tee time and 18 holes of golf. It’s a local course, $50 each for a round, and a nice way to enjoy the morning.

After we got back from golf, we packed our wine and walked down to the beach for some relaxation and to catch the sunset. There were people flying kites, collecting seashells (if you get out in the early morning there are sand dollars!), and building sun castles. We wrote our names in the sand, sipped rosé from Fortuity Cellars & Virtue Cellars, and watched the sun fade behind the horizon.

Seabrook was the break from city life that we needed, and I can’t wait to go back in the future.
